My favourite holiday recipe has undoubtedly always been this dish. Although many people don’t like casseroles, this side dish is great with stuffing and potatoes, and is the perfect combination of cheese and vegetables. This recipe is super simple and always has people asking for seconds. Enjoy!

This recipe yields approximately 8 servings but can easily be doubled to make more.

Vegetable Ingredients:

1 head of steamed broccoli

1 head of steamed cauliflower

Sauce Ingredients:

2 tbsp of butter or margarine

1 tbsp of flour

1 cup of milk

½ block of cream cheese

Salt, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger to taste

Optional: bread crumbs and parmesan for topping


Preheat oven to 350℉.

Steam broccoli and cauliflower.

In a small pot, melt butter and add flour. Stir regularly. Add milk and cook until thickened. Add seasoning (to taste) and cream cheese block. Once there are no lumps, the sauce is ready.

Mix sauce and vegetables in a large bowl.

Pour mixture into oven safe casserole dish.

Optional: Sprinkle breadcrumbs and parmesan over mixture.

Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
