Here is the playlist on Spotify!

It’s currently November, a somewhat dreary time of the year. We at Knightwatch wanted to give people a little bit of excitement, and get them involved in something fun and unique. So we asked students a simple question: What are your three favorite songs right now?

We got a stupendous response: one-hundred and twenty five songs, which combine to make one incredible eight hour playlist. You can listen to it right now on Spotify, using the link at the top of this article.

The most remarkable thing about this collection is the sheer variety of genres, styles, and artists selected by the students. It has classic rock songs, modern pop hits, intense rap beats, orchestral arrangements, and a little bit of K-pop for good measure. This diversity of music showcases the diversity of people and their interests at our school, and comes together to form an unexpected and beautiful medley.

Here are some quick stats about the playlist:

Number of tracks: 125

Most common genre: Rock

Number of artists: 139

Most common artists: Taylor Swift and Billy Joel

Most common decade: 2010s

Newest Song: All Too Well (10 Minute Version) by Taylor Swift

Oldest Song: Moonlight Sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven

Average happiness score: 46/100 (according to some random website)

Lowest happiness score: The End by The Doors (3/100)

Highest happiness score: Ching Cheng Hanji by Memegod (97/100)

As you can see, this playlist is titled “Vol. 1”. Since students responded so enthusiastically to this one, we plan to make a second volume sometime in the new year. Stay tuned for when you can contribute your favourite songs again, but beware we may have a special theme in mind…
