The Nepean Playlist Vol. 3 (Summer Edition)

Here is the playlist on Spotify!

The Nepean Playlist has returned! For our third and final edition, we asked NHS students to send us their three favourite upbeat, summer songs. Once again, the response was incredible, and we have compiled this wide variety of songs into a Spotify playlist (linked at the top of this article).

The collection is over five hours long, so you’ll have lots of great songs to enjoy as the summer begins. Out of all 83 tracks submitted, there were ZERO duplicates, which demonstrates the individuality of Nepean students’ taste in music. There were 92 artists, with the two most common artists still only having three songs each.

This time, we organized the playlist by tempo, with the slowest songs at the start, and the fastest at the end. If you choose to listen in order, the beats should gradually speed up, building hype for the summer.

We were amazed by the variety in genres and styles, even when everyone was picking upbeat songs. You’ll get a taste of groovy pop, mellow hip-hop, and amped-up rock throughout the mixtape.

Here are some quick stats about the playlist:

Number of tracks: 83

Most common genre: Pop

Most common key: B

Number of artists: 92

Most common artists: Bladee, Ecco2k (3 songs each)

Most common decade: 2010s (but lots of 2020s too!)

Newest Song: First Class by Jack Harlow

Oldest Song: Things Ain’t What They Used To Be by Paul Gonsalves

As the 2021-2022 school year comes to a close, this will be Knightwatch’s final volume of the Nepean Playlist. We would like to offer a huge thank you to everyone who sent us their songs, and made this project possible. Have a lovely summer break, and always keep on grooving!
