On the evening of March 21st, Nepean High School had the privilege of welcoming the Magee Secondary School Choir and Orchestra from Vancouver, B.C. into our auditorium for a joint performance, “Together in Song”. The night consisted of Nepean’s chamber choir and vocal class showcasing some of the songs they’d been working on. It also included some performances by the Nepean Choir, which was established in 1975 for “adults who like to sing” and is conducted by one of Nepean’s music teachers, Lee Carter. On top of all these amazing performances, people who attended the event got to witness the incredibly talented orchestra and choir of Magee Secondary School, conducted by Greg Quan, which are currently doing an eight stop tour of the country to perform songs at different schools. This night was a great opportunity for an exchange of talents and performances and allowing each performer to showcase all the hard work that has been put in over the years. Recent years have made it very hard for these performers to practice and showcase the things they love to do. For these reasons especially, it was an honour to welcome these performers travelling from across the country to share their passion for music. After one final performance where all the choirs sang together, the Magee Secondary School had one last surprise. They performed a final acapella number as a thank you to Nepean’s choirs for being so accommodating. All in all, the night was truly a representation of the importance of music in students' lives and everyone involved put on a great show.
